Hip Pain - A Case Report

Hip Pain - A Case Report

James Anderson, PRC and staff at The Rejuevantion Center have been busy wrting case reports based on common diagnosis.  This case report discusses severe hip pain covering the patient’s history, diagnosis, assessment and the treatment techniques used.  This is a great resource for clinicians to use when educating the general public on how Postural Restoration is used in treatment.  To access this complete case study, click here!

Where’s the Evidence?

Where’s the Evidence?

We are often asked for evidence based articles supporting PRI. The “evidence” is there, but going to all the sources as they presently exist, hasn’t been put together for the general public…yet!  A while back, upon request, Ron Hruska wrote an explanation on his view of evidence based material as it relates to PRI.  Please read!

In Case You Missed It

In Case You Missed It

A while back James Anderson, PT, PRC, was interviewed by Omaha Living on Postural Restoration.  This video is an excellent resource for clinicians to use when explaining to patients and other health care professionals what Postural Restoration is.  To access the video, click here!

Seated Adductor Pull Back

Seated Adductor Pull Back

When treating the geriatric population or someone with acute pain, we modify our testing and treatment all the time.  You can take several of the sidelying activities and modify them to a seated position.  This is an example of a modified Sidelying Adductor Pull Back.  Because of the patients inability to get on and off the floor, the therapist has instructed this activity in a seated position.  What’s even more beneficial to this modified seated position is the ability for the patient to isolate just the left adductors by placing her right hand medially to the left knee.  With verbal cues for the patient to “press their left knee into their right hand”, they isolate just the left adductors without right adductor involvement.  To access the complete handout, click here!

PRI Recommended TMJ Proprioceptive Occlusal Splints

PRI Recommended TMJ Proprioceptive Occlusal Splints

We have updated the page discussing Recommended TMJ Splints.  This handout provides a great reference for mandibular and maxillary splints and the benefits of both.  We have now added discussion regarding permissive and directive splints and the considerations that need to take place before using both.  To access our updated handout on PRI Recommended TMJ Proprioceptive Occlusal Splints, click here!

Home Safely…

After spending four days in Seoul, South Korea, Ron has returned home safely.  Although he is adjusting to the 14 hour time change, he is energized by his experience!  Dr. Kim and Dr. Chang of Kim and Chang Spine and Chiropractic Clinic hosted a three day course covering both Myokinematic Restoration and Postural Respiration.

Over 20 attendees were present at this course.  The majority of the class didn’t speak English, however, Dr. Kim was there to translate.

By the end of the three days, Ron had all the attendees checking Adduction Drop Tests, performing 90-90 Hemibridges, and performing a manual Left AIC technique!

While not teaching, Ron was able to learn about Dr. Kim and Dr. Chang’s practice and their current method of treatment.  The majority of the physicians present were Oriental Medicine Doctor’s.  While there, Ron received two vitamin injections, which he said “were excellent”.  Below is a picture of Ron with two Doctors and behind them is the area where the herbs are stored.

These are the herbs before they are extracted into a substance you drink.

In the evenings, Dr. Kim and Dr. Chang entertained Ron with dinner.

Prior to leaving, Ron captured a few “Kodak” moments.

This is a fitness park (look at that thoracic abduction)!

Downtown Seoul!

Although Ron is glad to be home safely, he feels honored to have had this experience.

Introducing…the technique of the week!

Introducing…the technique of the week!

Each week we will introduce a technique found on one of our two educational CD’s.  We will unveil the reasoning, purpose, application, and progression of each technique to provide guidance in your PRI decision making!

Every non-manual technique you receive in PRI course material originated from a patient.  Each technique has a story, a purpose, and a reason for existence.  What works for some patients may not work for others and thus another activity is born.  Some ask, “how did the concept of PRI start”; through patient care, that’s how.  Over the past 27 years, the creation and evolution of PRI has taken place.  Each patient has taught a lesson, sent a message and left an imprint that encompasses what PRI is.

PRI has been developing patient handouts used for education of both clinicians and patients for decades.  Although there are an abundance of activities, there is a reason for each and every one.  Please check back weekly to discover our featured Technique of the Week!
