A while back we recorded this video to use during a course. This is Ron Hruska giving step by step instruction on how to perform a 90-90 Hip Lift with Balloon.
Last weekend was the Cervical-Cranio-Mandibular Restoration Course here at PRI. Among other things, the attendees briefly covered the importance of splint therapy. “A Gelb Splint is a mandibular splint with acrylic coverage over the posteriors. A metal lingual bar is usually the major connector, which allows for plenty of tongue room. Occlusion on the Gelb splint is upper lingual cusps touching a lower flat or indented occlusal pad. This splint is usually made to a repositioned bite, bringing the mandible slightly forward.” Here is a video of a gentleman with and without his Gelb Splint. Notice his change in gait once he removes the splint and loses contact:
For those of you that have attended the Impingement and Instability course, you understand the concept of right compensatory femoral acetabular internat rotation (FA IR) and right compensatory tibial femoral external rotation (TF ER). Here is a fabulous video that shows this pattern!
A while back James Anderson, PT, PRC, was interviewed by Omaha Living on Postural Restoration. This video is an excellent resource for clinicians to use when explaining to patients and other health care professionals what Postural Restoration is. To access the video, click here!
Ever have a patient that you feel like you’ve tried everything with and they still can’t maintain neutrality? You know, those patients that you’ve given every activity you can think of and they still come back in a Left AIC pattern. Footwear can make all the difference in the outcomes you achieve using a PRI program. This young lady has been working withLori Thomsen, PT, PRC, and has shown signs of improvement but can not maintain neutrality with upright activity. After carefully looking at her orthotics and her gait pattern, it was determined that the reason why she’s not neutral is because of her shoes! Check out this video to see the effects appropriate footwear can make on the outcomes of your treatment!
Although we have created several techniques designed to maintain a zone of apposition (ZOA), there are instances when these standard techniques may need to be modified or individualized to a specific patient. This was the case with a patient recently seen by Postural Restoration Certified Physical Therapist, Lori Thomsen. After several attempts with balloons, wall reaches and left abdominal integration the patient was unable to maintain a ZOA. Lori used Postural Restoration principles to create this new technique to help her patient achieve a ZOA with integrated glute max activity. This is one of many examples of Postural Restoration therapists thinking outside the box!
Our innovative pools are designed to integrate unrestricted tri-planar movement and diaphragmatic respiration with patterns of aquatic feed-forward resistance to isolate and inhibit specific muscle function. Patented revolutionary pool design and composite material compliment PRI’s philosophy and uniqueness in the rehabilitation industry.

For those of you who are familiar with PRI manual techniques presented in our Postural Respiration™ and Cervical-Cranio-Mandibular Restoration™ courses, you will be happy to hear that we have filmed the manual techniques for a DVD. The date for filming was on May 30th and the finished project is expected by early summer. The live DVD will provide a great resource and guide for clinicians practicing PRI manual techniques. Twenty-three techniques will comprise this DVD; many of them are covered only briefly in our courses. Along with step by step instruction you will also receive commentary provided by Ron Hruska on the creation, application and significance of each technique.
