On appropriate timing and use of the quad program…

We are unsure of the reasoning and appropriate timing of the quad program.  I have the program but have only been using it towards discharge with my knee patients.  Do you have anything written up about quad use that would help us understand?

Many of our Left AIC patients need left quad function with their left glute med, left adductor and hamstring co-activated to decrease the need of left vastus lateralis demands as a FA or AF abductor since the glute med is in a ‘stretched’ out and poorly positioned state.  The right quad needs to work with the right glute max during single leg stance function (our quad program reflects these concomitant relationships) to reduce the right vastus lateralis demands for FA IR.
