On PRI and Total Hip Rehab…How do you apply PRI concepts and specifically myokinematic repositioning and strength techniques to total hip arthroplasties? Considering that most have a surgical restriction of no internal rotation, can you get a person in left AFIR safely without being concerned about hip precautions? Thank you for your question regarding PRI and total hip arthroplasties. When treating a patient post-op we follow the recommended protocol per physicians request. It’s only after their restrictions have been removed that we start to implement a PRI program. There are some activities that would compliment a PRI program that you could perform right from the start, however, IR is always reserved for when the physician feels it’s best suited. Trying to do both the protocol and a PRI program requires some creativity on the therapist part!! |
