On the Sacro-Spheno Flexion Technique…I have a question about the Sacro-Spheno Flexion Technique…If our goal is to fire up the left lateral pterygoid, why doesn’t the mandible go to the right? When you move the jaw to the left (as demonstrated in this technique), this pulls the right styloid process into external rotation which is now inhalation on the right side. This is a passive way to restore right external rotation of the temporal bone. With this technique we are trying to passively resotre inhalation on the right side. An active way of restoring right temporal external rotation would be engaging the left lateral pterygoid (as demonstrated in the Left Lateral Pterygoid Technique). |
