Dr. James R. Guzman is based out of Houston, Texas and received his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He also earned his master’s degree in human performance from the University of Houston. His background in physical therapy spans more than 20 years as he has been able to successfully blend strengthening, biomechanics, and movement science into his daily practice. James also draws upon his background in sports medicine, neurological rehabilitation, and osteopathic medicine to offer a comprehensive approach to helping patients with complex presentations.
James is the business owner of Advanced Integrative Concepts LLC (AIC LLC) in Pearland, TX where he offers physical therapy consultation. His treatments build on a 2-hour detailed initial assessments to include posture, gait, and physical examination based on PRI ® and Applied Integration Academy ™ (AIA) sciences. Common patient presentations include ailments from postural asymmetries, sports related injuries, hip, spine, and other chronic ailments.
James is also a dental integration consultant. By working closely with Houston area dentists, orthodontists, and myofunctional therapists, he can offer relief to patients suffering from more complex presentations including cranial, cervicogenic, and orofacial in nature. Typical presentations for these types of patients include postural asymmetries, visual convergence, headaches, neck, and jaw pain that are breathing and posture related. Additionally, his Postural Restoration Certified™ and AIA ™ fellowship training allows him the ability to have proficiency in dental and physical therapy integration including advanced training in airway, dental oral appliances, and visual dysfunctions as they relate to body asymmetries.
His background in academia includes teaching for the University of Houston as an adjunct professor, while offering students advanced concepts in sports medicine and applied kinesiology. Additionally, James has taught continuing education courses to PT’s and OT’s in the hospital-based outpatient setting including Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Bayshore Medical Center, and University of Texas Medical Branch. Lastly, James prides himself on joining the faculty of Applied Integration Academy ™ (AIA) and helping with the goal of educating the dental community on the significance of the body’s influence on occlusion and airway.
