Hi, I’m Tricia Athans, owner and physical therapist at Classical Physio, LLC.  After graduating from PT school, I worked 15 years in various clinical settings along the east coast.  Sadly, during this time, I developed a deep dissatisfaction with the limits of traditional management of disease, pain and dysfunction.  In 2000, I stepped away from physical therapy never planning to return…but, I’m back!  I simply couldn’t resist the amazing integrative science of Postural Restoration that I discovered as a patient in 2014.  This fascinating science coupled with my personal results in the clinic, so impressed me, that I hit the books and dove back into the profession.  I was extremely fortunate to learn from and practice with Jennifer and Chris Poulin and their excellent staff for 5 years, and I earned the designation of Postural Restoration Certified (PRC) in 2016.

I am a Certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES) and study classical osteopathy at the Upledger Institute (Craniosacral Therapy), Barral Institute (Visceral Manipulation), and D’Ambrogio Institute (Total Body Balancing and Lymphatic balancing) – all participating members of the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators.  The classical osteopathic approach is pure artistry.  It promotes postural symmetry and neurological balance that fits together perfectly with Postural Restoration to alleviate underlying problems and improve performance and physical harmony.  In addition, I am extremely fortunate to be taught and mentored by a holistic health practitioner and detox specialist – learning detox, cellular regeneration, cellular resonance, Quantum Reflex Analysis testing and botanicals – and will be expanding my practice, in the future, to include these elements critical to achieving lasting health and wellness.

My husband and I have raised 4 independent, adventurous children and we actively teach and mentor the youth in our church.  On a typical day, our rambunctious Chesapeake Bay Retriever keeps us busy on the lake and trail.  We also enjoy sailing, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking, experimenting in the garden/kitchen, and traveling.

At the time of PRI Credentialing, providers are required to submit verification of current licensure or certification status to determine eligibility for PRI Credentialing. It is the responsibility of credentialed providers to update the Postural Restoration Institute if their license or certification has expired, been suspended, or revoked, so that they can be removed from the PRI Find a Provider map. As Postural Restoration Institute places this responsibility on providers, it cautions consumers that they should not rely on Postural Restoration Institute’s website as evidence of a provider’s current licensure or certification status. Instead, the Postural Restoration Institute recommends that patients and clients wishing to verify a provider’s current licensure or certification status contact the relevant regulatory boards or reach out directly to the provider to ask for current verification of his or her licensure or certification. The Postural Restoration Institute is not liable for and disclaims any responsibility for services performed by PRI Credentialed providers.
